Wellington Folk Festival

Known affectionately as Wellyfest, this folk festival has brought people together around folk music since 1965, held every Labour Weekend at the Brookfield Outdoor Education Centre, a Scout-owned site in Wainuiomata near Wellington. It runs a Balladier stage with local performers all weekend, open blackboard concerts, and countless informal singing and playing sessions among attendees. On-site camping and a relaxed, all-ages atmosphere are part of its long-running character.
