Beach Hop

Beach Hop is held every year in Whangamata on the Coromandel Peninsula, turning the seaside town into a big nostalgia gathering for 1950s and 60s culture. Launched in 2000, the festival mixes classic cars, hot rods, motorbikes and rock'n'roll music through the streets and on stages around town, capped by a main parade and largely free entertainment. It draws more than a hundred thousand visitors over five days, making it one of the largest events of its kind anywhere.
