About
Founded in 1980, the Detroit Jazz Festival takes place every Labor Day weekend in downtown Detroit, spanning Hart Plaza on the riverfront and Campus Martius Park. Admission is entirely free, funded through philanthropy, making it one of the largest free jazz gatherings in the world. The lineup brings established names and younger musicians together across several outdoor stages.
