Donauinselfest

Founded in 1983 by the city of Vienna, Donauinselfest takes place on the Danube Island, spread across several kilometres of riverbank fitted with open-air stages. Admission is free across the whole site, and the lineup mixes rock, pop, electronic and traditional Austrian music over roughly a dozen stages, run by the municipality and drawing a broad audience.
