Overview
About
Founded in 1965 as a folk gathering rooted in the Minho and Galicia traditions, the festival turned toward rock by the late 1960s, with its 1971 edition featuring Elton John remaining a landmark. Suspended several times over the decades, it has run without interruption since 2014 in this village in northern Portugal on the banks of the Coura river, and is regarded as the oldest rock festival on the Iberian Peninsula.
