About
Founded in 2017 in Manchester, this festival celebrates the music, dance, food and traditions of the Székely, an ethnic Hungarian minority from Transylvania, while also embracing folklore from across Central and Eastern Europe. Held each June at Cathedral Gardens, it brings together folk, jazz, world music, operetta and Balkan fusion artists, plus dance groups from the UK and Europe. Visitors can sample slow-cooked goulash, Polish pierogi and Hungarian lángos in a convivial atmosphere rounded out by free family workshops and a late-night táncház, the traditional Hungarian dance house.
