Internationale Jazzwoche Burghausen

Every year the Internationale Jazzwoche turns the historic town of Burghausen, on the Salzach river, into a leading gathering for jazz fans. Founded in 1970 by Joe Viera, the festival has over the decades hosted figures such as Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Chet Baker alongside emerging talent. Since 2009 it has awarded the European Burghausen Jazz Prize for young musicians, whose final traditionally opens the week of concerts.
