Jazz Cerkno

Jazz Cerkno takes place each year in mid-May in the small Slovenian town of Cerkno. Launched in 1996 by local enthusiasts in a bar, it grew from 2000 onward with outdoor concerts under a tent and has become one of Slovenia's leading jazz events, alongside those of Ljubljana and Maribor. Its programme favours contemporary and avant-garde jazz, free improvisation, imaginative folk music, post-rock and rock in opposition, often with concerts exclusive to Slovenia.
