About
Founded in 1963 in Tauranga, this jazz festival bills itself as the world's longest-running city-based jazz festival and ranks among the major jazz events of the Southern Hemisphere. It takes place every year around Easter, mixing concerts, competitions, street parties and workshops with a lineup of New Zealand and international performers. Its long history and its early role in showcasing regionally diverse Kiwi improvisers have made it a fixture of the country's jazz calendar.
