Beppu Argerich Music Festival

This classical music festival takes place in Beppu and across Oita Prefecture, under the artistic guidance of pianist Martha Argerich, who has had a close relationship with the city since the 1990s. Founded in 1998, it brings piano recitals and chamber music to venues such as the Shiiki Argerich House and B-con Plaza, featuring international musicians personally invited by Argerich. The festival puts strong emphasis on outreach, with programs aimed at children and young musicians from the region.
