Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte

Launched in 1990 shortly after German reunification, the Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte offer a summer long series of concerts, from June to September, staged in unusual venues across Brandenburg and Berlin, including castles, monasteries, barns and aircraft hangars. The programme is centred on classical music but also embraces other styles, often pairing concerts with literature, painting or dance. The festival has helped rediscover the region's architectural heritage while bringing Berlin and its surrounding countryside closer together.
