Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte

Founded in 1976 by composer Hans Werner Henze in the Tuscan town of Montepulciano, the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte combines a summer academy with a festival where opera, theatre, dance and concerts are created and performed by young international artists. Productions rehearsed during weeks of residency are then staged in historic venues such as the Teatro Poliziano. The festival has hosted several world premieres and keeps alive the spirit of artistic exchange envisioned by its founder.
