Dubrovnik Summer Festival

Founded in 1950, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival began as a theatre festival before expanding into opera, classical music and dance. Performances take place at historic sites within the walled old town, including the courtyard of Fort Lovrijenac, where Hamlet has been staged every year since 1955 with the sea as a backdrop, and the atrium of the Rector's Palace, home to chamber opera since 1971.
