About
Born in 1985 at the Sportivo Juventus stadium, the Fiesta Nacional del Chamamé is held every year in Corrientes, mainly at the Cocomarola amphitheater, gathering artists from across Argentina and neighboring countries around chamamé, the folk genre emblematic of northeastern Argentina that UNESCO added to its intangible cultural heritage list in 2020. It is the largest gathering in the world dedicated to the genre, mixing traditional ensembles with more contemporary acts, with the atmosphere marked by the sapukay, the ritual cry that accompanies the dances.
