About
The Festival Oude Muziek (Utrecht Early Music Festival) is held every year in late August in Utrecht, the Netherlands, centred on the TivoliVredenburg concert hall and many other venues across the city centre. Founded in 1982, it has grown into the largest early music festival in the world, presenting several hundred concerts over about ten days devoted to medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoire performed on period instruments. Each edition builds around its own theme tied to a place, era or style, alongside lectures, exhibitions and a symposium.
