Overview

About

The Glasperlenspiel Festival (the Glass Bead Game) has been held every summer in Tartu, Estonia, at St. John's Church since its founding in 1995 by composer Peeter Vähi and producer Tiina Jokinen. Inspired by Hermann Hesse's novel of the same name, it presents a classical and contemporary music program built around literary, philosophical or spiritual themes, with a particular focus on rare instruments and unusual ensembles. Peeter Vähi remains the festival's artistic director.
