About
Founded in 1920 by art historian Oskar Hagen, the Göttingen International Handel Festival is one of the world's oldest baroque music festivals, credited with launching the Göttingen Handel Renaissance. It takes place in the university town of Göttingen, with concerts and operas held in churches and concert halls, anchored since 2006 by its own ensemble, the FestspielOrchester Göttingen.
