Macerata opera festival

The Macerata Opera Festival stages lyric productions each summer in the Sferisterio arena, a 19th century open-air neoclassical amphitheatre in the centre of Macerata, in the Marche region. Founded in the mid 20th century, it presents works from the core Italian opera repertoire, relying on the venue's natural acoustics and staging designed for this distinctive space.
