Marin Marais

The Marin Marais festival takes place every autumn in several intimate venues around Paris (temples and cellars in and near the Marais district), organized by the Association Caix d'Hervelois since its founding in 2006 to mark the composer's 350th birth anniversary. Devoted to early music, it has grown beyond the viola da gamba repertoire and Grand Siècle court music to cover a broad panorama from Josquin Desprez to the fortepiano, pairing young talents with established performers. Its association-run format and warm, informal venues give it a generous, unpretentious feel.
