Overview
About
Founded in 1920 by Max Reinhardt, Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Richard Strauss, the Salzburg Festival brings together opera, classical music and theatre each summer in Mozart's birth city. Performances take place notably at the Grosses Festspielhaus and the Felsenreitschule, a former quarry converted into a hall set into the Mönchsberg rock face.
