Wexford Festival Opera

Founded in 1951 by opera enthusiast Tom Walsh in his hometown of Wexford, in southeastern Ireland, the festival built its reputation on reviving rare or forgotten operatic works rather than staging the standard repertoire. Performances take place at Wexford Opera House, a venue built for the event in the heart of the town, and typically feature young singers early in their international careers.
